Finally, it was a sigh of relief for all the commuters as the Union Minister Hardeep Puri and Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal gave a positive announcement by flagging off the Delhi Metro Pink line that linked South Campus to Lajpat Nagar.
Well, the section connecting the 2 places is known for its buzzy atmosphere filled with shoppers. Connecting the top 4 significant markets – Sarojini Nagar Market, INA, Lajpat Nagar and Moti Bagh that gathered some visitors at the spot witnessing the beautiful decoration, the place along with the new inaugurated stations were decorated, giving shoppers a festive feel.
The line was mutually inaugurated by CM Arvind Kejriwal and Hardeep Singh Puri. However, the line will definitely gain some tourists, as said by DMRC official. With a height of a 7-storey building, the bridge will allow the citizens to explore the city from some height. With such height comes the advantage of escaping the busy roads and people will witness the beauty of Delhi in just few minutes.
The officials look forward to improve the capital with many metro lines launched in a year. It seems the capital is improving at a fast pace as Delhi has reached its highest point of Metro construction from the past history.
The 8 km stretch has 6 stations: INA, Lajpat Nagar, the busy shopping street-Sarojini Nagar, Bhikaji Cama Place and Sir Vishveshwaraiah Moti Bagh. Out of these, only 1 station is elevated and the rest are underground. Well, what matters here is that now the streets will be a bit relaxed with decrease in traffic.
The DMRC official in an interview said, “We have reached the highest point in our network. It is an accomplishment and a moment of joy for us. However, this will also be a moment of the thrill for riders of Delhi Metro, as they will get a panoramic view of the city from a towering elevation.”
The city is expecting to have more projects lined up, as said by the DMRC official.
